About John Leask & Son

John Leask & Son have been involved in transport since John R Leask and his son James founded the business in 1919 as a taxi service operating two taxis. The business grew during the 1920's and 30's, the first bus operating from approximately 1928.

Leasks became the Shetland agent for Allied Airways when that company commenced air services to and from Shetland in 1936, and from those early beginnings it developed into Shetland's largest travel agency, specialising in all forms of business and holiday travel. The travel agency division closed in December 2011, and today John Leask & Son focus on operating a modern fleet of mini buses, buses and coaches on services, summer tours and private hire throughout Shetland.
